Media Center

Welcome to the Bluff Creek Media Center

Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.


Children come to Media Center once each week for 60 minutes. During that time, they learn information literacy and technology skills. Students may come to the Media Center on an individual basis any time the Media Center is open or when they have their homeroom teacher’s permission.

Book Checkout :
  • Kindergarten- 1 book in Sept-Oct, 2 books Nov-June
  • 1st-3rd grade- 2 books in Sept-Oct, 3 books Nov-June
  • 4th-5th grade -4 books
Check out period is two weeks; students may renew books during their media time.
 
Overdue books:
We do not charge fines for overdue books. To view what books your child has checked out please go to Destiny Quest and login with their username and password.  Students are responsible for bringing their books to the media center.
 
Lost & Damaged Books:
We make every effort to assist your child in locating their books. Students who have lost or damaged a book will be expected to pay the replacement cost of the item. If the book is found at a later date, the money collected will be refunded to you.

About Mrs. Torrey

Mrs. Torrey graduated from the University of Saint Thomas in 1994 with a degree in Elementary Education and French, with a minor in Secondary Education. She earned her MA in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Thomas in 2008. She has a Science Certificate from Hamline University (2009) and a Literacy Certificate from Augustana University, SD (2019).

She began her career with 2 years as a World Language teacher at Central Kindergarten Center in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, followed by 8 years in Edina teaching French at Edina High School, then Valley View Middle School. She came to Bluff Creek Elementary in 2007 and has taught in 2nd through 5th grade classrooms in her time here. She became the Media Specialist in 2021.

She has two children, Christopher and Archer, and two dogs, Freddie and Jasmine. She and her husband enjoy gardening, reading, traveling, and musicals. They perform with the Chaska Valley Family Theatre.
