Modified Hybrid Learning

Modified Hybrid Learning

Dear Families of Elementary Students,

As you know, yesterday our district communicated plans for how we will start the school year.  For our elementary students, that means a return to in-person learning four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) and distance learning on Wednesdays. A fully online option (Online Learning Academy) is also available for those families who are not comfortable returning to school in person.

We know you have many questions about what your child’s elementary experience will be this fall so you can make the best decision for your family.  We don’t have all the answers yet, but here’s what we want you to know right now:

In-person learning is just that, all of our students together in our building.  While we will work to keep class sizes as small as possible, we won’t be able to provide that information until after we know what enrollment levels are in the Online Learning Academy.  Students and staff will wear masks.  We will practice social distancing to the fullest extent possible but cannot guarantee it in classrooms.  Lunch will be in our classrooms, and recess will be with classmates.

The health and safety of our students is every bit as important to us as providing them with an exceptional education.  You can read more specifics about our elementary plan HERE.

We also know that many of you have questions about the Online Learning Academy (OLA).  We want to be clear that the difference between the OLA and Distance Learning 2.0 is choice. Distance Learning 2.0 is the improved distance learning model that the district will need to shift into if public health data changes or a classroom or building needs to adjust because of a Coronavirus-related closure.

While students will still be connected with their home school, they will not necessarily be in online classes with other kids they know, or teachers from their own building.  Please find more detailed information about how the OLA will work HERE.

The district will host several information sessions to share important information with parents and our community about the return to school this fall.

All sessions will be held virtually using ZOOM / click link to register

Additional community engagement sessions will be held next week.  A list of all sessions can be found HERE.

We will continue to provide updates about the fall, opportunities to connect with teachers, and more in the days and weeks ahead.  Please reach out if you have specific questions or would like to discuss options.  Thank you in advance for your support and dedication to learning!

Be well,
